Green Bean

We had the pleasure of welcoming Katherine Darnstadt, one of greenbeanchicago.com‘s writers, to our space for an interview on Friday. Greenbeanchicago.com is THE source for green building projects taking place in the Chicagoland area. It started as a blog by Erik Olsen, first head of the City Green Permit program, and has now grown into a much more comprehensive site.

Greenbeanchicago.com is interviewing us to consider a Logan Square Kitchen feature on its website. It’s an honor to be considered, and we’re grateful for all the time Katherine spent with us.

It was a wonderful hour, if you can imagine it being wonderful to stand in a 40-degree building with jackhammers running one floor below and to talk about the project with Katherine and Jean Dufrense, our principal architect from SPACE Arcitects+Planners. The greatest gift of that hour for me was looking back over the contributions of our team– we have had many challenges and obstacles, many times others would have given up or given in– and we’re still moving forward.

I’m not embarrassed to say I got emotional talking about it; the character and integrity of everyone on this team is inspiring. I left that meeting feeling like the luckiest woman in the world.
