The Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival will take place July 23-25th– a Friday thru Sunday celebration.  We’ve hosted some of the planning meetings of the art curators, and the energy and dedication is really terrific.  The community along Milwaukee between California and Fullerton Avenues is really firing on all cylinders.

This Monday, Logan Square Kitchen is hosting a sneak preview of this fest, which is a benefit for the curators and temporary art galleries that will be erected for the event.  The galleries will incude a huge sculpture garden and mural painting at some of our bigger parking lots.

I’m excited to see so many elements you don’t see in the more established art fairs.  For instance, the curators are really searching and evaluating so much local talent.  It will really be a show where you won’t see the same artists that work the art fair circuit.

Second, there will be a music stage on Belden with a beer garden– with acts booked by Cole Brice of Cole’s, a great live music neighbor at 2338 Milwaukee.

We’re working on something fun and surprising.  I’m not giving up details yet, we’re still in the planning stages.  But LSK will be deep into the fun of this second year festival.  Logan Square in the summer has got it goin’ on, so come by this Monday night, and at the end of July.
